The Bollywood has now re-entered into the Russian homes since the launch of India TV channel.
The paid cable TV channel, devoted to Bollywood, has seen its viewership surge dramatically since its launch last year by the Red Media group, Russia’s largest producer of theme channels. It now broadcasts 24 hours a day.
The factor which is holding back the growth is that so far only 15 per cent of the country’s households have the equipment to receive cable television.
The channel is especially popular with the older generation, which is still nostalgic about Bollywood in the Hindi-Roosi Bhai-Bhai days.
During Soviet era, Bollywood movies like Awara, Bobby, Disco Dancer and Sita aur Gita would draw 40 to 63 million viewers to cinemas across the nation.
A public opinion survey conducted by the GFK Rus group showed that the bulk of the India TV channel’s audience is made up of women in 16-54 age groups who belong to the middle class and live in cities of 100,000 to 1 million.
More than 900 Indian films have been released in Russia in dubbed VHS-and DVD-format versions since films starring dynasty actor Raj Kapoor hit the screen in this country about half a century ago.

Indian film actor Kamal Haasan’s younger daughter Akshara is the talk of the town. She is just 16 and has her eyes set on the Olympics already.
With dancing in her genes and a doting father, she’s just breezed through the first
bronze test in ballroom latin conducted by the UK Alliance of Professional Teachers Of Dancing.
Ballroom Latin will be a competitive sport in the 2012 Olympics in London.
“I observe a lot. I try to get it right. I’ve been working hard,” said Akshara Haasan.
Akshara’s elder sister Shruti is already into music, and is firmly routing for her little sister.
“I see a lot of Kamal in her. He’s a great dancer himself and she’s very talented and is naturally gifted for dancing,” said Jeffrey Vardon, Director, Hot Shoe Dance Comp.
So as she does the Cha Cha and the Latin jive, Akshara knows she has to keep her feet firmly on the ground. To qualify for the Olympics she’s got 4 more levels to pass in the next 5 years.

Miss Teen Carolina was asked a simple question at Miss Teen USA 2007 competition in August and you couldn’t have hoped for a more inarticulate and messed up response.
She was questioned, as to why she thought a fifth of Americans were not able to locate the US on a world map.
And the result is embarrassing.
Her answer, in its entirety, was: “I personally believe that U.S. Americans are unable to do so because, uhmmm, some people out there in our nation don’t have maps and uh, I believe that our, I, education like such as, uh, South Africa, and uh, the Iraq, everywhere like such as, and I believe that they should, uhhh, our education over here in the U.S. should help the U.S., uh, should help South Africa, it should help the Iraq and the Asian countries so we will be able to build up our future, for us.”

Starts on September 27 on ITV2. The series is based on a book by call-girl “Belle Du Jour” who first detailed her sexual adventures on the internet.
Actress Billie Piper – 25, is playing a high-class call-girl. Billie in her steamy scenes and photos has already caused stir. Actress is also seen in a threesome and even appears completely nude in a darkened boudoir-like room.
Billie’s role as a high-class prostitute called for a number of raunchy, semi-nude scenes, which reportedly upset her fiance Laurence Fox, and prompted her to embark on an intense fitness regime.
Billie said: “I was just very aware of the fact that I was going to be naked a lot of the time and I didn’t want to have to think about that as well as the fact that I was doing endless sex scenes. So I did quite a bit of running.”
Fiance Laurence, who the actress is rumoured to being marrying in December, was said to be less than thrilled by the sexual scenes involving his fiancée.
For the critics she said:
I think the thing to remember in all of this, before I get upset thinking I’m not being a responsible grown up, is that I’m just telling this girl’s story and, you know, it’s been a book, a successful book. Her tale is very different to others. She very much enjoys this life but, as we all know, it can be a dicey existence and it can be really horrendous.

1,000’s of Australian women donned free bikinis on Sydney’s Bondi Beach for a group photograph to be in the Guinness World Book of Records.
Chris Sheedy, a representative for Guinness World Records said: “This was certainly one of the more spectacular world records that I’ve been invited to adjudicate on,” said. “As an Australian myself, it’s logical that any record involving sun, sand and surf should be held in this country.”
