Swastik – Indian or Nazi
Sep 18th, 2007 by sheetal
A high street chain “Zara” very famous and expensive store apologised to its customers for creating and selling handbags with swastikas (Nazi symbol) on them.
Bosses at the trendy chain were forced into a grovelling apology after being flooded with complaints about the £39 handbag which has a green swastika at each corner.
The holdall-style bag – which also has flowers and bicycles stitched into it along with the two-inch swastikas – has been slammed by anti-racism campaigners, who called its design ‘abhorrent’.
Jewish people were very angry and offended with the bag.
Zara which has 50 stores in Britain more than 1,000 worldwide apologised using the symbol of the world’s biggest race hate campaign as a fashion symbol.
A spokesman said: “We did not realise Swastikas appeared on some of these bags, the swastika was not on the bag which was sourced by us after being supplied by an external producer.
“Of course we apologise to anyone who was offended by the bag, and we will be withdrawing it from all our stores.”
It is believed the bag may have been made in India where the symbol is a common one with no racial overtones meaning well being.
Comeon sheetal we all know there is hell lot of difference between our swastik and Nazi sign. ours is drawn straight and Nazi sign is tilted. yeah they both will look same for someone who is not hindu.
