No more babies please

Aug 9th, 2007 by sheetal

The birth of more than 4,000 babies could be delayed in the Satara district of Maharashtra every year, if one in five couples takes up the Rs. 5000 offer.

Yeah you heard it!

Couples in Satara who delay having their first child by two years can get a ‘second honeymoon’ paid for by the state. The cash offer is aimed at controlling birth rates in a province in the west of the country.

‘The money is sufficient for a couple to enjoy a second honeymoon for two or three days at a favourite destination,’ a health official explained.
